A woman spoke to me one day
In a crowded room you see
Where others thought she
spoke to them
But I knew she spoke to me
She spoke of things I'd never
heard
But things of which I knew
She spoke with clarity of
voice
And certainty of purpose
too
She spoke not just of things
to do
Her message was no sham
She spoke of touching people's
lives
She spoke of who I am
And as she spoke to me that
day
A vision came to mind
Of a time I stood with what
she spoke
A time when I was aligned
I used to be quite separate
From those I didn't know
I saw them through imperfect
eyes
Clouded a long time ago
And then there was a special
man
A man I didn't know
I met on a thanksgiving day
Not so very long ago
His daughter was a special
friend
Who loved her father so
She told me of his frailities
Things I thought I couldn't
let go
When finally I met this man
I can not tell you lies
I saw none of what I had
been told
Only love was in his eyes
And on that very fateful
day
There were others all around
But the room was full of
him and me
I heard no other sounds
He spoke to me with urgency
He counseled me with love
He really came alive that
day
He came alive with love
He took me on a journey
A journey through his life
He gave me all he had to
give
The value of his life
And when I left that man
that day
I would never be the same
For I had let him touch my
life
And he had let me do the
same
A week after that fateful
day
While I was far away
My friend left a brief message
Her father had passed away
Later when I visited her
She took me to the cemetery
She said that when he passed
away
No one was closer to him
than me
And as I stood and comforted
her
I knew not what to say
But I knew that forevermore
That man would live with
me
On the day the woman spoke
to me
New thoughts came to my mind
I saw the world she spoke
of
It has been with me all the
time
Imagine if all who stood
before me
Knew that they were passing
on
And offered all they had
to give
To me to carry on
Would my prejudices matter
As I listened then to them
In a conversation filled
with love
I could truly be with them
People might say how can
I be sure
That others will bring love
to me
I say one thing I know for
sure
The love can start with me
I thank her for the insight
I realized that very day
Now I know I'm love transforming
life
I can be that every day
