The premise which underlies The Chrysalis Experience is expressed in the following quote from a talk about “Inspired Living” given by Clyde E. Gumbs.

“Everyone wants to live a fulfilling life. Everyone wants to have fulfilling relationships. Everyone wants to have a fulfilling career. Seeking fulfillment appears to be an endless, uncertain and very frustrating quest for most people. Sometimes, it seems that, “if only the circumstances of my life were different, then my life could be fulfilling.” Sometimes, it seems that, “if only the people in my life were different, then my life could be fulfilling.” Sometimes it seems that, “if only I had the right job or career, then my life could be fulfilling.” We may try to create the “right” circumstances. We may try to change the people in our lives so we can have the “right” people who are the “right” way. We may try changing jobs or careers to find the “right” one. We may try to be a “better” person. If we could only be more intelligent, more knowledgeable, more attractive, more physically fit, healthier, more skillful and more focused. If we only had more money, more status, a better home, better cars, and all of the best stuff of life. Have you ever felt like you never quite win in life? Have you ever felt a sense of emptiness when you achieved what you thought would be fulfilling or an extraordinary victory? If so, you are not alone. It may seem hopeless and it certainly sounds very uninspiring; however another type of life is possible, but it requires a distinctly different approach.

Imagine that you were born for some inspiring purpose. Imagine if, when you were living true to that purpose, you would have a magical, miraculous and fulfilling experience of being alive. Imagine living an inspired and inspiring life. Imagine if, it only took a new level of self-awareness and self-discovery for this to become possible. Imagine if, all the struggle, burden, emotional suffering, boredom and emptiness in your life were due to you not living true to your purpose. Imagine if, you didn’t have to figure everything out, didn’t have to have the proper justification for what you were doing, or didn’t live as if you had to validate your worth. Imagine if, you didn’t need to be a better version of yourself, you merely needed to be the inspired and turned on version of whom you’ve always been. No one asks children why they play. Perhaps that is because play is clearly their purpose in life. Who is more inspiring, alive and turned on in life than a child at play? No one will ask you why you are doing what you are doing when they experience you turned on and fulfilling your purpose in life either. This is “Inspired Living.” Why would you choose to live another way?”
