Hello Again!

Many times, my life has seemed to be little more than an opportunity to master discouragement, failure and disillusionment. Clearly these have been important life lessons for me and I would say that I seem to have been a a slow learner. Perhaps that is associated with me needing to master impatience as well:-)

So often, I hear people speak about their desire to live good and worthwhile lives, constantly seeking to better themselves and their circumstances. I hear them speak about seeking to be more positive and to do their best to do the right things in life.

I can thank my mother that I am no longer one of those people. No longer am I focused on seeking a good, positive and better life. No longer am I focused on seeking the life that people may consider to be the right life for me.

I was fortunate to have been able to spend some time in Anguilla with my mother about 8 months before she passed away in 2002. At the time, she was working on a challenging project and asked me to coach her. She was known to be the standard bearer for many causes where others considered success to be improbable, if not impossible. Her victories in that respect are countless, although there were also times when she had been unsuccessful.

As I listened to my mother, while coaching her, it became clear to me that when she was inspired she was effective and the results were miraculous, but when she was uninspired, that was not the case. When she was authentic, she was effective, but when she was inauthentic, she was not. No matter how good, and positive she tried to be, if she was uninspired and inauthentic, she had relatively limited effectiveness.

That may seem like a small and relatively insignificant insight to some people, but it transformed my whole perspective on my life.

I could focus on being inspired, authentic and fulfilling my purpose and potential as the life I was born to live. I didn't need to worry about judging myself, others and everything endlessly as either good or bad, right or wrong, better or worse , or even positive or negative. That was quite a simplification and quite a revelation. My life has never been the same. All the work that I do with people has been predicated on that simple distinction.

To me, the great victory or triumph for a human being is to live an inspired and inspiring life fulfilling their purpose and potential--to live with a compelling sense of purpose and destiny. Imagine if this was not only possible, but it was the birthright of every human being. Imagine if everyone was born to be victorious and merely needed to be themselves to do so.

The poem of the month is, "I Was Born To Be Victorious." The theme of the month is "Living Life As An Inspired Calling."

  • I Was Born To Be Victorious---Article

When I look back upon this spiritual journey that I call my life, I am amazed at how difficult I made things. I was born into a family with many hard earned and inspiring accomplishments. My parents were intelligent, well-informed, and hard working. They were also successful entrepreneurs and passionate community servants. My siblings similarly have used their gifts and talents for the benefit of our family and the communities where they have lived. I never doubted that I had been blessed with a wonderful family and would have a great opportunity to live a fulfilling life.

My challenge was to identify what it would take to have a fulfilling life. I hoped that I had been born for some great purpose, even though I had no idea what it might be. I knew what I liked to do. I knew what people thought I did well. I knew what people thought I should do and expected of me. I was always encouraged to do “good” things, “positive’ things, “better” things, and of course the “right” things.

Living Life As An Inspired Calling

So often people born into our culture and society relate to life as an opportunuty to survive, cope and make it. They go through life seeking validation, resigned to a relatively uninspired experience of life and seeking opportunities to escape from their fears, doubts, boredom and inauthenticity.

On the other hand, there are those who relate to living their lives as an inspired calling and an opportunity to fulfill their purpose, potential and destiny.

The opportunity to live life as an inspired calling is reflected in our "Signature Poems," "TheWise Woman," "The Masterful Man," "The Passionate Professional," "The Perfect Partner," "The Purposeful Parent," and "I Was Born To Be Victorious."

In up coming months, we will be releasing a series of beautiful gift products based on our Signature Poems, which will be offered initially on our website and at speaking engagements.

Why Offer Only Provocative Questions And Provocative Statements?

Some people wonder why I ask provocative questions, make provocative statements, and write provocative poems, but do not give answers, advice, and tips.

My belief is that these kinds of statements, questions and poems can be illuminating and thereby allow you to see the answers that are being revealed that you may not have recognized previously.

Out of such expanded awareness a more fulfilling experience of life not only becomes possible, it is inevitable.

You don't need me to tell you what to be and do. You merely need to see clearly what has been keeping you from what you were born to be and do.
